Alison is the former Chief Executive and Managing Partner of Berg solicitors. In this role she had responsibility for all aspects of the business from finance to marketing and PR, HR and recruitment, as well as continuing as a key point of contact for clients of the firm and maintaining her fee earning role. This thriving practice attracted the attention of the global law firm Kennedys and Bergs merged with Kennedys in September 2017.
Her brief on merger was to grow the profile and contribution of Kennedys commercial division-locally, nationally and internationally. Alison did that successfully, with Kennedys being awarded law firm of the year at the 2021 City of Manchester Business Awards. Having successfully “bedded in” the Berg team, she made the decision to retire from Kennedys (with effect from 31st of October 2021) and focus her time working with a discrete number of referrals, long-standing clients and enjoys providing strategic business and legal advice through her role as a consultant to LLM.
In addition, she has been able to increase the time she spends supporting the Northwest business community-whether that be through her role as a board member of the business development organisation pro-manchester, supporting the National Literacy Trust in Greater Manchester, Smartworks or as most recently appointed, acting as an ambassador on behalf of the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity which raises money for and promotes awareness of homelessness.
Alison is a champion of equality in the workplace, recognising the importance of diversity and promoting health and well-being at work. In addition, she is keen to support the future generation of workers whether that be through her role as the joint chair of the pro-manchester Skills committee , promoting links between the workplace and schools /colleges/ and our Universities and working with various Mentoring programs.
